What is APS Therapy?
APS therapy is a patented award winning micro-current treatment that will significantly enhance your quality of life. A short treatment time of up to 32 minutes per day has been clinically proven to assist in reducing acute and chronic pain, inflammation, and swelling without the use of medication.
APS Therapy at Medix Skincare & Laser Clinic in Melbourn stands for Action Potential Simulation. Action potential is a communication signal that occurs in the nerve cells. It’s an electrical waveform that travels from one cell to the next. The current that APS uses exactly mimics this naturally occurring current in the body. The only difference is that the APS Therapy current is up to five times as strong and it is this increase in power that literally triggers the body into healing itself! APS Therapy works on pain by stimulating the body’s own healing mechanisms. A tiny current of electricity, of the same frequency that the body naturally uses, helps cells communicate more effectively. The effect for about 76-85% of people is less pain, better quality sleep, and more energy.
What does APS Therapy do?
APS Therapy uses a micro current to stimulate the body’s natural nerve impulse resulting in the release of specific neuro-hormones by the body and causing ten important things to happen:
- Relief of pain – both acute & chronic
- Reduces inflammation & swelling
- Increases mobility in stiff joints
- Improves various chronic diseases
- Limits tissue damage
- Heals bone fractures
- Heals wounds
- Tissue regeneration
- Increases energy
- Regeneration of ATP
Due to the action potential the cell communication will be improved which will increase the cellular energy. This increase in energy is the result of an increase in ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate), which will be increased 5 to 8 times with the APS machine. Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) is the cell’s main energy source and an essential factor in the healing process. Large amounts of ATP are required in cells to control primary functions such as the movement of vital minerals like sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium, in and out of the cell. It also sustains the movement of waste products out of the cell. Injured cells are deficient in ATP. As discussed before APS therapy increases cellular energy, body will use this extra energy to heal tissue and to reinstate the balance. When the energy is used the bodies own painkiller adenosine that is left in bound condition will manage and reduce the chronic pain. Another effect of the APS Therapy is the increased removal of waste products which will also be beneficial for pain management and a general well being. Almost all painful conditions can be treated with APS Therapy. This includes pain from injury or tissue inflammation, arthritis, muscular pain, headaches, lower back pain, neck pain and nerve pain or neuropathies. In clinical research very good results have been obtained, showing from 76-85% of people, often with a long-term painful condition, having a significant reduction in pain, with 15–19% going to completely pain free. APS therapy has been used successfully for the following conditions:
Arthritis, Athletes foot, Sports Injuries, Backache, Bone Trauma, Neck Pain, Tennis Elbow, Tissue Inflammation, Muscle Injuries, Shoulder Pain, Osteoporosis, Psoriasis.
What happens during the treatment?
Adhesive electrodes are used to make contact with the body to transfer the APS signal. The electrodes are applied to specific areas on the body in such way that the treatment is most effective. Clients may feel a light tingling sensation; immediately after that sensation the current is reduced until nothing can be felt. The APS Therapy signal does not hurt and is very comfortable and safe to use on the human body. A short treatment time of up to 32 minutes per day has been clinically proven to assist in reducing acute and chronic pain, inflammation and swelling without the use of medication. Depending on the underlying cause, this may allow the body to completely repair the problem. Some conditions are a result of poor cell connectivity, low ATP levels, the build up of toxins in the damaged area and poor blood and lymph circulation. APS Therapy successfully addresses a range of conditions specifically through the creation of action potentials and the huge increase of ATP in the body by up to 500% which helps the mitochondria to function and the body to heal.
Are there any contraindications?
Recent stroke or thrombosis (less than 3 months ago)
Lack of skin sensation
How many treatments are recommended?
A course of 8 weeks APS Therapy, with 3 sessions per week, comprising of 4, back to back 8 minutes electrode placements, is recommended to get the optimum result.
Are there any side effects?
The APS machine is battery operated and it is very safe. It uses micro-current energy which is very similar to the body’s own energy. The APS Therapy signal does not hurt and is very comfortable, painless and safe to use on the human body.
How quickly will I see results?
Although the result varies from person to person depending on what condition is being treated and how long the person has had it, after a course of treatment the pain stays away for a longer time or is gone permanently due to the effect of regeneration of the cells and resultant healing. Energy levels are higher, waste expelled, mobility and overall health improved.
I take painkillers and anti-inflammatory tablets. Can I still get APS Therapy?
APS Therapy will not interfere with most painkillers but the treatment may be a little slower. As treatment progresses most people are able to reduce or stop taking painkillers completely. Since micro-current therapy needs nerve receptors to work and when receptors are taken they cannot be used for other purposes so, some heavy painkillers like Tramadol need to be stopped. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that are used as pain killers have less negative effect on micro-current therapy but are in themselves dangerous with harmful side effects. Examples of NSAID’S are Ibuprofen, Diclofenac and Naproxen.
